Our Basic Stance on the Environment

The Alinamin Pharmaceutical Group has positioned environmental protection as one of our key themes as we work toward the development of a sustainable society. The use of energy, raw materials and water in our production processes generates various environmental impacts such as CO₂ emissions, waste, water pollution from wastewater, and the loss of biodiversity.
We are therefore pressing forward with measures to minimize the environmental impacts produced by our Group’s production locations in order to get closer to developing a sustainable society.

Alinamin Pharma Tech Co., Ltd.

Alinamin Pharma Tech is promoting environmental management through its production of pharmaceuticals and business and technical support operations, involving all employees in environmental conservation activities.
The company is continuously improving its environmental management system based on ISO14001, implementing the following measures to promote the prevention of environmental pollution and reduce its environmental impact.

1. Accurately assessing the environmental impact of its business activities and appropriately promoting activities that conserve resources and save energy.
2. Promoting the 3Rs through zero emissions activities, etc. to reduce and properly dispose of waste materials.
3. Protecting and properly using water resources.
4. Properly managing chemical substances and reducing the discharge of such substances into the environment.
5. Promoting activities that contribute to the conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable use of biological resources.
6. In addition to complying with environmental laws, regulations, and agreements, Alinamin Pharma Tech establishes environmental targets, conducts annual reviews of the targets, and continuously works to improve its track record.
7. Carrying out educational and awareness-raising activities so that employees can understand and recognize the importance of environmental issues and act accordingly.

NIHON PHARMACEUTICAL CO., LTD.

NIHON PHARMACEUTICAL CO., LTD. endeavors to continuously improve its environmental management system based on ISO14001 and engages in the following environmental conservation initiatives.

1. In addition to working to reduce the five-year average energy consumption rate by at least 1% per year, as set out in Japan's 1979 Act on Rationalizing Energy Use, the company also aims to reduce CO₂ emissions by 40% from FY2016 levels by FY2025, in line with the goals of its comprehensive climate change program.
2. While fulfilling its responsibility as a waste producer by promoting the reduction, reuse and recycling of waste and ensuring proper waste disposal, the company aims to achieve the targets of raising the waste recycling rate to 60% or more by FY2025 and raising the waste plastic recycling rate to 65% or more by FY2030.
3. In order to protect water resources, the company promotes initiatives tailored to the risks of each workplace, while also reducing water usage by encouraging its recycling and reuse. By FY2025, it aims to reduce water usage by 5% compared to FY2019.
4. The company responsibly manages chemical substances and reduces the discharge of such substances into the environment.
5. The company promotes product stewardship and environmentally friendly supply chain management (purchase, inventory and distribution).
